New Technology in Cars - Features for 2010

New technology in cars enhances the safety and upgrades the driving experience. A 2000 car is going to be much different than one made for 2010. And, even cars that were made just five years ago do not have all of the features that one coming off the line this year will. You can expect that the new technology in cars this year will completely overhaul your driving experience. Here are some of the upgrades you can expect in the coming year.

One of the most ubiquitous new technologies are navigation systems. GPS devices guide drivers with voice and visual directions. The driver just has to enter the destination and he or she will be guided right there.

Because gas prices are at an all time high, fuel economy is a concern for many drivers. New technology allows the car to switch off non-essential systems like the air conditioning in cooler times automatically.

While airbags have been standard for some time, recent models have featured curtain airbags. These safety features reduce the likelihood that passengers in either the front or back seats will sustain head injuries.

The "black box" technology that has been used in airplanes for many decades has now come to the new car. These can record all sorts of data including the speed at which you were driving and the location of the car. This can be useful for insurance claims and can also be introduced as evidence in case of a lawsuit.

Many hybrid cars now feature run flat tires. This means that you can drive for up to 50 miles with no air pressure. This gives drivers the chance to get to the tire shop without having to pull over to the side of the road and change a tire.

While some of the features listed in this article were inconceivable 10 years ago, we haven't seen the end of new technologies in cars yet. In fact, cars that park themselves and even drive themselves are on the drawing boards.

New technology in cars has enhanced the driving experience. Cars are increasingly safer and more fun to drive.
