In a world of rapidly growing technology, Environmental Science needs to stay up to date. Accordingly, scientists from Rushing Rivers Institute have designed models to use these advances in order to combat river degradation. The result is MesoHABSIM, a sophisticated adaptation of previous habitat simulation models to assist river scientists in their habitat simulation as well as future river planning.

The MesoHABSIM model is created to not only for scientists interested in habitat modeling but for businesses who are also environmentally aware of their actions. The MesoHABSIM model allows for planning that can very precisely predict the results of construction, development and extraction on rivers and river ecosystems. This responsible decision will benefit the water as well as the organization who chooses to do so.

Rushing Rivers understands this technology is new to much of the public. Accordingly, they are providing training sessions to interested scientists and businesses on its applications and implementation. These courses will be offered in the Amherst, Massachusetts and Madrid, Spain. Both business and river scientists alike will have the opportunity to appreciate its effectiveness and value despite their location.

The two day introductory course is organized to teach the basics of MesoHABSIM data collection and modeling. It is designed for those who will not be utilizing the technology in the near future but are interested in having an understanding of its usage and necessity.

Additionally there will be a four day course intended for those who plan to be using the MesoHABSIM model in the very near future. In addition to the introductory session, those attending will be able to learn about MesoHABSIM's use in data processing, and also be given training in the Sim-Stream software.

Both of these courses involve hands-on training with highly trained and experienced professionals. The courses offered in Hadley, Massachusetts will be conducted May 4th through the 7th. In Spain, the courses are conducted April 20th through the 23rd.

Rushing Rivers Highly encourages those in the field to participate. The world's rivers are reaching a point where a lack of intervention spells certain doom. This technology will help those concerned conduct their research in more efficient, accurate ways.
